News: The KORAL-PWD section of the Islamabad Expressway project is expected to be finished and opened by April 2023, according to the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The KORAL and PWD portions of the Islamabad Expressway project would be finished by the end of April 2023, according to the most recent information provided by the project manager working on the Islamabad Expressway Expansion project. It is significant to note that this segment extends from Islamabad’s PWD Interchange to the Korang Nullah Bridge. Additionally, the construction of the Korang Nullah Bridge is included in the same project.

Due to its current height of 30 meters, the construction of this bridge was by far the most challenging undertaking in the expansion of the Islamabad Expressway. The Korang Bridge is over 150 meters long and has 33 grinders, the installation of which posed significant labor and technological challenges.

According to the new development plan, the grinders had to be lifted and reinstalled, which required some time. The main issue the development team came across was that there was nowhere for the crane to be set up, so the heavy grinders had to be installed by hand. It was nearly impossible to lift and position each grinder since they were so large and heavy (170 tonnes each.

However, the installation of the grinder is already halfway complete, and the developers are dedicated to finishing it quickly so they can begin constructing the road between KORAL and PWD, which is a component of the Islamabad Expressway project. The project manager offered other hints, including the fact that the 35-meter-long east railroad bridge will be done by the end of January 2023.

However, because the western portion of the railroad bridge needs a lot of work, it may take 4 to 6 months to complete. Additionally, Director CDA announced that labour has been sent to the PWD to T-Chowk project, which has also begun.
